Message from the Principal
Wow! The Spring Carnival was wonderful! Many thanks to Sonya Streicher, Lisa O'Carroll, Anne McDaniel, and all of the families who volunteered their time and effort to ensure its success.

Students and teachers are all working diligently in preparation for the state testing in May. The STAR testing is an opportunity for our students to show what they know and we want them to be able to do their best.

The state budget crisis continues forcing the district to cut services and personnel. At the elementary level, we will lose our P.E. teachers and aides. On the positive side, the district has been able to reallocate funds to enable us to keep our library media technician. This is so vital when reading is the core of elementary education. Thank you to all of you who have written to the governor and legislators letting them know that your children's education must not be the victim of the state's budget problems. If you have not yet written, there are template letters here on our website under Resources.

Character Education - Confidence
During the month of May, the character trait, Confidence, will be introduced to students.

Self-confidence is all about balance. At one extreme, there are those with low self-confidence. At the other end, some are over-confident. Getting this balanced is a matter of having the right amount of confidence, founded in reality and one’s true ability.

Paloma’s students will receive definitions of confidence, learn how to take informed risks, stretch themselves (but not beyond their abilities) to try hard and become more successful in and out of the classroom.
